Balancing Work and School
I have come to the conclusion that most teachers don't realize what it is like for students to have a job and have to come to school. I usually recieve massive homework that is almost impossible to complete when having to go to work right after school until 11pm. There is honestly no time to do anything. I would hate to have made it to my senior year and fail. They say "well, why don't you quit your job?" I'm 18 and basically take care of myself....that's not an option.

well, it is hard but it all come to time management. i know how it is i go to school, sports, then work but i still manage to get my work done and so do alot of people. set your priorites and it will all come together.
ReplyDeleteI think the teachers forget that they were young once and they didnt like the huge amounts of homework.
ReplyDeleteHomework is something that I have always hated to do. But through my years at Oakcrest I have found a way to get it all done. It's all about what works for you, even if that is skipping lunch to go to the library and do work rather than chat with friends, or working all study hall rather than taking a nap.
ReplyDeleteI'm 18 as well and have little time to do school work. Thankfully english is my only important class. I'm not doing too well so I'm tring to complete as much that I possible can. In particular; the big assignments. (Journal check, the poems, the dash, and even what I'm doing right now.) I work at a job where it's usually very busy and not only do I have very little time to fit in school work, I'm beat after work. I feel a slew of laziness and tirdness hit me across my face when I come home. It's very hard to balance both. It's especially hard when you have to wake up at (friggin) 6 in the morning every day so you don't get an adequate amount of sleep for work that you'll have later in the day. In college, it's much better because you can sleep in later and school days for the most part are a whole lot shorter for college students. Waking up at 6 in the morning and coming to a school that I don't enjoy in the least bit and then going to work shortly after I go home isn't exactly what I'd call an ideal position to be in as a teenager. I'm hoping things get better after I graduate but I agree that it's extremely difficult for a teen to balance both. Honestly, it'd be better if there wasn't any homework. Over 7 hours of school every day monday through friday isn't enough school work for students? Give me a break.
ReplyDeleteI just got a job and im really nervous becasue ive been hearing how hard it is to balance the 2. Luckily i dont get a lot of homework but still im sure it will make things harder. I guess in the end the paycheck will make it worth my while.
ReplyDeleteIm going to be staring up with my new job soon and I was thinking about the hours I should take. I thought about how I would get all my homework done, but then I remembered that Im in my last marking period and then I said what homework.
